Powerpuff Girls

I agree with his reasoning - in the show, they are villains, albeit ineffective ones, by nature of being the girls adversaries. Your arguement that they're not that bad and shouldn't be called villains is what's called a point of view. Whatever edits Ace has done to other pages doesn't effect that. And labeling an edit conflict as vandalism, without trying to work it out first, directly impacts your credibility. So, I've considered, I've reconsidered, and I stand by my decision. Ahem. For the record, person, I was blocked once by an administrator whose own activity and methods have been questioned. Furthermore, my history is irrelevant to this matter. Marcus2 shows clear negative bias against The Powerpuff Girls and recently harassed me for calling him on it months ago. Source or no source, Marcus2 unsuccessfully attempted to have the image deleted. Now he's trying to replace it with one of unnecessarily poor quality. ACS (Wikipedian); Talk to the Ace. The Adelaide, Kolb, etc. Mozart concertos

are now regarded are at best others' reworking of slight Mozart fragments into full concertos of their own but most likely fully spurious. I'm surprised Gilder was still talking about it in 1985, but then, people still talk about "double expositions" in classical concertos- very much the exception, not the rule, an attempt to describe what's something much more complicated and descended from the ritornello baroque aria/concerto form, to digress that little bit- now in 2006... so why not, I guess in 1985 Gilder talks about the Adelaide and others. It's unlikely, though- I'll see if one of Zaslaw's books or something else recent talks about the reasons. (Besides the stylistic- that's not quite definitive, when he could go from the 8th concerto to the 9th, from the 9th to the piano sonatas of about the same time, then his "style" was shifting for various reasons...) Birthyear changing

In response to birth year changing, no, it is not possible for a person to legally change their birth year as they want (emphasise on "legally"). They can argue that is was incorrectly recorded, but otherwise it is set in stone like any other biographical fact. As for Nancy Reagan, I believe it was in her autobiography that she lied about it, putting 1923, but biographers found public and school records and a birth certificate that said otherwise.--Wendox34 06:59, 23 December 2006 (UTC)

I'm not sure how People Finders collects its information, according to the main page it comes from operator licenses and voter registrations. I've heard of people with different dates on a license and voter registration (e.g. Ann Coulter). I doubt it is legal to knowingly provide a false date of birth on such. but it appears that such laws are rarely enforced. --Wendox34 07:13, 27 December 2006 (UTC)

Mazepa

Settign aside anon's violation (I almost blocked him for 3RR and incivility), he has a point: some sources attrbute the same pictuere to Mazepa, other to Jan Kazimierz Sapieha. Fairly Odd Parents Movie

The Fairly Odd Parents movie looks like it doesn't merit its own article: it was a movie who had a script written, and then production was stopped on the movie. There's no IMdb listing for the movie -- only the TV show. That's what I could gather. I'd talk to the admin who did this, not me. I don't know how I'm involved. According to this IMDb message board thread, the movie will not be made. I'm afraid that this isn't notable enough to merit an article. Nancy Reagan birthdate

Hi. I read your comment on Nancy Reagan's talk page. I happen to know a lot about Mrs. Reagan, so I thought I may be able to help you out. Nancy Reagan herself states in her memoirs that she does not know her birthyear. She says it is 1923. All news media organizations, and public places like that list her birthyear as 1921, because of their "calculations". To tell you the truth, I have no idea with is right, only nancy Reagan's mother does! I would keep it as 1921 on the Wikipedia page, though. if you have any questions, just get back to me. thanks, Happyme22 .

Nickelodeon Assessment

Hi.

I've noticed you have been assessing some Nickelodeon articles (Catscratch, for example). When you assessed Catscratch and others as Mid-Importance, that was a little too low. I have some SpongeBob SquarePants episodes with that rating.

The importance is for how important it is related to the WIKIPROJECT, not to everyone, so keep it a little higher. I will change it back to Top-Importance, because Catscratch is very important when it comes to the Nickelodeon TV channel.

Be aware that I represent nobody in this discussion. Due to the ongoing discord between the users Night Leon, Marcus2, Rattis1 and other anonymous parties I feel that the discussion must cease on the debate as it has long since been about content and more about the fan credentials of each party.

From what I can tell, neither Night Leonn or Marcus2 should be editing this article if they cannot act civilly towards others, agree on content accuracy and not let their own personal opinions colour the article as a whole. As such, I am archiving the debate and would ask of the involved parties not to revive this particlar thread of discussion or make any further remarks towards other members. If any more uncivility is found on the talkpages, I will warn anyone who makes any personal attacks or shows no attempt to improve the article through discussion. As such, I may in the future may be issuing Night Leon and Marcus2 with warnings for personal attacks towards others after discussing this further.

Thanks for your interest in this article but please, do not use the talkpage or the article as shouting grounds for who's supposedly the bigger fan and therefore more correct. Neon white, I have read those sources too, and it seems to me, reading the sources thoroughly and from my research, that Marcus is right about the sources being unreliable. There is a lot of false information spread in the media anyway, especially the Internet.

It's not up to editors to choose what we want to believe is true. The criteria for inclusion is that the source is verifiable. I can't see any reason why these are not. Classical composers bio-infoboxes

Hi. i wonder if you know there is a strong guideline on not using bio-infoboxes for classical composers at the Composers Project? The guideline reads "Current consensus among project participants holds that the use of currently-available biographical infoboxes is often counterproductive on composer biographies. They should not be used without first obtaining consensus on the article's talk page. "

Thanks for your message. I know that popular music artists have infoboxes. The editors concerned think thy are appropriate - which is fine. On the other hand, the editors on the four classical music projects have decided very firmly that they are unsuitable because of their redundancy, conspicuousness etc. There have been long discussions about the issue (which can be read at the Composers Project archives). They've involved quite a lot of people and no one has any enthusiasm now for restarting them.

So I'm hoping you will remove the two remaining boxes. Regarding John Dunstaple in particular - many editors throughout WP are against using the image placeholder - not just classical music editors. --Kleinzach (talk) 13:32, 23 April 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading Image:Alfonsoxiii.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. English vs British

With respect to Category:English Orthodox rabbis, I'm not sure I agree with your categorisation of certain Orthodox rabbis as "English" as opposed to "British". To be included in an "English" category, persons generally have to be born in England. Immigrants who gain British citizenship are generally placed in "British" categories, since they gained British citizenship, not "English" citizenship. OK, that's fine with me if you want to go down that road and I won't revert the changes I made back. Be aware though that others might object or change them in the future since this is a common approach I've seen taken with "British" vs. "English" for people/immigrants. No harm done. Just trying to keep things as simple as possible. Just saying "Rock" fits the needs of the intro sentence for a song page (certainly not the place to hash out the band's genre(s)), and slash marks to indicate multiple genres are ugly and awkward. As an aside, I always found arguments over whether The Beatles were pop or rock silly and ill-informed. "Hey Jude" in particular certainly wouldn't have existed if not for the influence of the likes of Little Richard.WesleyDodds (talk) 00:44, 4 May 2008 (UTC)

The key factor in placing the Beatles firmly in the rock category is their constant use of the backbeat. Until it became ubiquitous in various genres, the backbeat (emphasis on the second and fourth beats in a measure) was one of the defining, unique features of rock music. Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you recently copied the contents of a page and pasted it into another with a different name. Specifically, you copied the contents of Talk:List of major characters in Dexter's Laboratory. This is what we call a "cut and paste move", and it is very undesirable because it splits the article's history, which is needed for attribution and is helpful in many other ways. The mechanism we use for renaming an article is to move it to a new name which both preserves the page's history and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. In most cases, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page. If there is an article that you cannot move yourself by this process, follow the instructions at Wikipedia:Requested moves to request the move by another. Also, if there are any other articles that you copied and pasted, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Cut and paste move repair holding pen. New look You may have noticed some changes around the home page (and the newsletter). WP:NICK is getting a face lift, and so are most aspects of it. Jonathan and Macy are working on this so far, but we'd love your help! If our code has an issue, or you think a new bit of code will make it look better, feel free to work with it!

Collaboration of the Month Our next collaboration depends on the pending GA review of Nicktropolis. If there are problems Nicktropolis (per review) Fix these problems ASAP. When these are done, or if Nicktropolis goes GA Work on improving Nickelodeon's article

Archives We made a new page just so we can archive these newsletters. Go to Wikipedia:WikiProject Nickelodeon/Newsletter. I felt that was a bit lengthy, so I made a shortcut just for it. It's WP:NICK/NEWS. I created that so, if our delivery boy fails, you can still access the newsletter.

Editor's note on the hiatus The newsletter went on hiatus for around 3 months because I took a wikibreak to get away from all the drama on Wikipedia. Let me tell you, though: I'm back, and I feel better than ever. Hi -

I don't know whether you are aware of this, but the issue has been discussed in the talk page. To summarise - there are secondary sources disagreeing with each other on the subject of the religion (if any) practised by Pasternak's father; perhaps some are more reliable than others - but the source being currently quoted in the page is fairly clearly less scholarly than many others than can be used to make a case "for" or "against" anything (or that can be used to make a nuanced statement that might get closer to the truth!).

It seems to me that we can use discretion in deciding which sources to use. It also seems to me that either a detailed explanation or an elision would be better than some sort of flag or marker. There was, at some point, a discussion of whether Copernicus should be stated baldly to be a Polish scientist; even though a case can very clearly be made in that direction, and many sources support it, the consensus was against it; a neutral explanation of his background was preferred (and somebody who kept inserting "Polish" was unfortunately banned).

You are probably a veteran compared to me here, so I would appreciate an explanation of what you think about these matters of procedure. Feketekave (talk) 00:31, 14 November 2008 (UTC)

New homepage! We've redesigned the home page for (hopefully) the last time for a while. If you don't like the new design, the old page is archived here. To match the new design, the newsletter's format has also been redesigned. I hope you like it! Note about member list As the member list seems to have gone basically stale, I have removed all members from the list and moved the member list to a page that is transcluded onto the home page. Sorry this issue is a bit late... Personal obligations have overtaken my Wikipedia time, and I haven't exactly had time to send out this issue. November's issue is coming soon. I promise. :-) Article of the month... Every month, I choose an article that I think needs help, or is just plain interesting. This month's article is Nickelodeon Magazine. Nickelodeon Magazine's article needs help. There are no sources. I know, for this page, it's practically impossible to get it to a FA, but let's imagine we're trying to get it to FA status. That will be a motive for us to add sources, improve the writing, etc. Let's work on this article for the wellness of it! </pep talk>

Holiday issue?! We know you're going to be busy this holiday seasons, from ordering iPods to unboxing them. So we've decided to combine two newsletters into one: the Nickelodeon WikiProject's Holiday Newsletter. Hope you enjoy it! Member roll call If you were a member of WP:NICK before the relaunch, please, please, please add your name to the member list! We need as much help as we can get! We currently have 5 members, down from a previous 40+. We know some of you are still here!

Happy holidays! I hope all of you have a safe and fun holiday season, so get outside, enjoy the sunshine while it lasts! (in the Northern Hemisphere) For our Southern Hemisphere folks, get outside, and enjoy the sunshine, since it's spring/summer there! RfC on Nick.com closed We now have the answer on what to do with this long-lasting dispute. The community has decided to split the Nick.com section into its own article. For this reason, I have opened a sandbox here. Let's get moving so we can fix this quickly!

Slight layout changes We have made a few layout changes, some of which are temporary. You'll notice, compared to last month's issue, that there was an image in this column. It is now gone temporarily for the holiday (double) issue. Also, we have removed the box with the delivery notice to make it less flashy (and there were div issues, if you're techie). Article of the month Note: This is a double issue, so we will not have an article of the month this time around. Sorry!
