The Fortune is a 1975 American comedy film directed by Mike Nichols and starring Warren Beatty, Jack Nicholson and Stockard Channing, in which two con men compete for the millionaire heiress to a sanitary napkin fortune.
Bette Midler and Cher both campaigned unsuccessfully for the female lead.
The film opened to decidedly mixed reviews and poor box office, though its reputation has built considerably over the years. Despite this, as of 2006 it has not been released on DVD in the United States, though it is available as a region 2 DVD.
