Story

An orange rain of goo begins to fall down on Bikini Bottom one morning, some goo falls on Squidward and he chases after SpongeBob. Jimmy Neutron appears and takes him and Patrick to the Mawgu's former lair on Volcano Island, now used by The Old Hermit Crab. They meet up with Danny, Tak, the new Evil Syndicate (made of Plankton, Technus, Beautiful Gorgeous and Traloc), Zim (who sides with the heroes because he's "not evil, just curious") and Dib (who sides against Zim with the Syndicate). Jimmy then enhances everyone (except Patrick who gets a chocolate bar) with Mawgu tech to help destroy the goo, or else the Globs of Doom will engulf the worlds and the multiverse will be destroyed.

SpongeBob and Plankton demand to go to Bikini Bottom first to protect it (Plankton just wants to save the Chum Bucket) from a rampaging, controlled by Morphoid, giant Bubble Bass. The heroes and villains manage to get him to stop by feeding him over cooked Krabby Patties that make him throw up the goo he ate, at SpongeBob. Back at HQ, Spongebob begins saying strange things, but the group dismisses it as if he was imitating Zim. The Old Hermit Crab then shows them The Vessel of Portentia, which can destroy the source of the goo, but is missing 4 crucial pieces, one in each of the remaining heroes' worlds.

First, they travel to Zim's Town, where GIR is playing with a vessel piece shaped like a taco. However, before GIR gives it to Zim he is hit by falling goo and runs off, entertaining Dib as now he gets to beat up GIR. Then, they go to Amity Park, which is being hit the most. The Ghost Dog is hit by one of the falling Goo-teors and runs off with an elongated Fenton Thermos that could work as one of the pieces. Finally, they travel to Retroville to retrieve a swallowed piece from Jimmy's giant Girl-Eating Plant. Each time more Morphoid goo is spilled on SpongeBob.

After returning from Zim's Town, Jimmy realizes that SpongeBob wasn't imitating Zim, but that the goo dumped on SpongeBob had established a telepathic link between him and who, or whatever was making the Morphoids. Upon retrieval of the thermos, SpongeBob tells the rest that source's name is Globulous Maximus and that he is quickly approaching all the Earths. Jimmy tells them that they have just enough time to retrieve the last piece from Pupununu. They succeed without having to deal with a brainwashed boss, but more goo is still poured on SpongeBob. Upon returning they are indirectly told by Globulous that he intends to become SpongeBob as well.

With the Vessel complete, the ten, and Patrick, venture into space and submission Globulous. But the villains have other plans: the villains throw out the heroes, and steal The Vessel of Portentia to finish the job. SpongeBob, Danny, Jimmy, Tak, Patrick, and Zim learn that Globulous is actually a giant booger, and that he was created during the Big Sneeze. To help defeat the villains and live out his dream, he re-shapes himself into SpongeGLOB! The Vessel of Portentia is destroyed and the villans, and Dib (who claims that he is not a bad guy) are left to float through space, while the heroes returned to Volcano Island.

Trivia

  • This game is marketed as a SpongeBob SquarePants game.
  • The color of the slime on the cover is green, while in the game, the slime is orange.
  • On the cover of the game Jimmy is seen shooting a light ray gun, while in the console version his weapon is a Mawgu Mind controlling Headband, and in the DS version his weapons are a Supersonic Gun and a Jet Pack. It may be possible that the light ray gun was the original weapon for Jimmy.
  • The characters in this game are not animated in way like they used to in previous three Nicktoons video games because this game's developer is Incinerator Studios, not Blue Tongue Entertainment.
  • Danny Phantom, SpongeBob SquarePants, Jimmy Neutron, and Patrick Star are the only characters that appear in all four Nicktoons video games.
  • SpongeBob SquarePants and Danny Phantom are the only two characters that are playable in all four games.
  • The Playstation 2 and the Nintendo DS are the only game systems that all four games are on.
  • Unlike the previous three Nicktoons video games, The Fairly OddParents characters, Sandy Cheeks (from SpongeBob SquarePants) and Sam Manson (from Danny Phantom) do not appear in this game.
  • Patrick and GIR return in this game, but are not playable.
  • In the console version many shows' characters can be seen, such as:
    • SpongeBob SquarePants' universe: SpongeBob, Squidward, Patrick, Plankton, Bubble Bass, Karen (Plankton's computer wife), Gary, Mr. Krabs (mentioned) and the guard worm.
    • Danny Phantom's universe: Danny, Technus, Ghost Dog, Dash, Tucker and Jazz.
    • Jimmy Neutron's universe: Jimmy, Beautiful Gorgeous, The Girl-Eating Plant, Cindy, Carl and Sheen.
    • Tak's universe: Tak, Traloc, Jibolba and Jeera.
    • Invader Zim's universe: Zim, Dib, GIR, Ms. Bitters, Prof. Membrane and Zim's Robo-parents.
  • The Wise Old Crab from Nicktoons: Battle for Volcano Island returns but in this game he is called The Old Hermit Crab. Also he is voiced by Dee Bradley Baker instead of Bill Farmer.
  • Mr. Krabs is also mentioned by SpongeBob.
  • Hal Sparks' name (who voices Tak) is not seen in the credits.
  • In the credits, Rikki Simmons' name (who voices GIR) is misspelled as Riki Simmons.
  • In the second Bikini Bottom level, The Dump, you can see the Plabs Patties truck (from episode Friend or Foe) and the guard worm and Mr. Krabs' money filled mattress (from episode The Lost Matress).
  • In the same level, there is a reference to SpongeBob SquarePants opening intro. By entering the first pipe (not the second one you use to get to the bus station) you will land on the island from the opening theme. You can go back to the dump by falling down back to Bikini Bottom (This is a joke in itself because in the theme song when the captain says "OHHHHHHH!" the scene goes from the island down to Bikini Bottom.
  • The last level in space takes place in dimension where the Volcano Island is.
  • Danny's Mawgu Weapon is the only one that doesn't stun, while Zim's is the only one that pulls enemies in.
  • Unlike the previous handheld games, the Nintendo DS version restricts the character choices to one preset pair per world, as per each single level in the console version.
  • Unlike the previous Nicktoons games, Spongebob isn't seen wearing his karate gloves when doing his karate.
  • Even though this game is developed by a different company (Incinerator Studios), some of the characters' basic attacks and jumps are still the same as the previous Nicktoons games (developed by Blue Toungue Entertainment).
  • the games plot in which the heroes have to defeat an evil mass of goo is similiar to the upcoming game from cartoon network, cartoon network universe fusionfall
