James Cormac Murphy is an author born in Liverpool on 6 January 1946, the sixth of fifteen children born to Laura and Michael Murphy.

James, or ‘Jim’ Murphy is creditted with writing several books including his trilogy of cold-war spy thrillers, Cedar (1986), Juniper (1988) and Ash (1990).

James has also penned the acclaimed The Murder of Julia Wallace (2001), the latest book of a series which seeks to solve a 70-years old murder in Liverpool and more recently Liverpool VCs (2008) which covers the lives and times of 23 liverpool men who won the Victoria Cross.

James now lives in Barrow-in-Furness and has four children: Christopher, Elizabeth, Sophie and Mary.
